Notes:

It is unfortunate, but there is a lot of variability in reliability among semi-automatic handguns.  Glock is the "gold standard" in reliability, with the Smith and Wesson M&P line, Sig, and Springfield XD models also having excellent reliability reputations.  Recommendations:  Glock or Smith and Wesson M&P.

  • For holsters, Safariland offerings are particularly good:  ALS #6378, GLS models, and #5198 are all excellent choices and reasonably priced.

  • For magazine pouches, the Safariland model 71 (single pouch) accomodates almost all magazines, and, again, very reasonably priced.

We have a limited number of 9mm Glock pistols with holsters, magazines, and magazine pouches for rent:  $25.00

You will need your own (sturdy) belt and ammunition.

Indianapolis, Indiana, Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Amanda Blackburn, wife of Pastor Davey Blackburn, was attacked by three violent home invaders, while her husband was getting an early morning workout and her 15-month-old son slept upstairs.  She was savagely beaten, teeth knocked out, raped, shot three times, and declared dead the following day.

Three suspects:  Larry Taylor (the suspected killer,) Jalen Watson, and Diano Gordon have been arrested in connection with the horrific crime.  They called themselves, "The Kill Gang."

From the Probable Cause Affidavit:

"Larry Taylor told Gordon, Watson, Bull and possibly (redacted) he killed the woman.  Taylor stated she charged at him and he shot her somewhere in the upper body so he would not be scratched.  Taylor told them that he leaned over her body and shot her in the back of the head.  He leaned further, looked at her face, and watched her bleed."

Many of us carry a concealed firearm. I have tried about every manner of carry during my twenty-five years in Law Enforcement. I carry every day of the week, sometimes up to 16 hours per day. We all are different shapes and sizes. There is not one perfect way to carry a concealed firearm. We will discuss a variety of topics. We will also spend some time on the new micro
9mm handguns (Glock 43, 43X, Sig P365, and Springfield Armory Hellcat). These handguns have offered the ability of carrying a compact sidearm without giving up the capacity of a mid or full-sized gun. There will be an opportunity during the last hour of class for students to conduct live
fire exercises with the provided ammunition and firearms. We will cover the following topics:
-Pros and cons of different types of concealed carry (shoulder holster, waist, ankle, pocket, off the body/purse)

7:30am-5:00pm

This is one of our most versatile classes. We will cover techniques in regard to using various types of cover, different shooting positions, shooting while moving, and safely moving from one point of cover to another. A student can use a handgun, defensive shotgun, or defensive carbine for this class. This is a perfect class to take with a friend or family member due to the teamwork used in some of the drills.

You will need:

Students will need a dependable defensive carbine, defensive shotgun, or a handgun. A sling is recommended for the carbine or shotgun, but not required. Students will need three 20 or 30 round magazines for a carbine and a quality holster, three magazines, and mag pouches for a handgun. Students need to bring 250 rounds of 5.56/.223 ammunition if they use a carbine. Please do not bring M855/SS109 or similar penetrating ammunition
